Wix Studio 2 is a ground-up rebuild of Wix Studio for agencies, with an AI agent built in. Wix hasn't announced a release date yet.

We first wrote about Studio 2 on 1 July 2026, after sitting in on a Wix partner roundtable. There was no polished launch video. The Wix team walked agencies through the Figma flows for the next version of Studio, and for once the hype matched the work.
More than three months on, there's still no release date, so we updated this post in October 2026.
Our advice is to build on Wix Studio now if your site needs work.
Wix told partners that Studio 1 will keep running alongside Studio 2, and that nothing moves automatically. A site built today stays live and keeps bringing in enquiries.
What is Wix Studio 2?
Wix Studio 2 is a ground-up rebuild of Wix Studio for partner agencies and developers. It has new components, a new code engine and an AI agent called Aria. Wix hasn't published the details yet. What follows is what Wix showed partners as Figma flows, not a finished product, so details will move.
The components are native React components, built from scratch. They're the same building blocks Wix's own developers use. The code engine is new too. Velo, the scripting language behind custom Wix work for years, is being retired in favour of standard React. Wix's words, not ours: “Velo no more.”
That matters even if you never touch the code. A site built on standard React is quicker to extend and easier to find developers for. It also depends less on tools only Wix understands.
We saw this direction coming when Wix Studio got a new product page and the Classic Editor didn't.
Aria, Wix's AI agent, sits on top of all that. It lives in the editor and the dashboard, and it can generate designs, write code and build logic. Using it is optional. Anything Aria does you can do by hand, and anything you do by hand you can pass to Aria.
What Wix showed partners at the roundtable
Most of what we saw came down to one promise: better sites, built faster, on the Wix platform your site already runs on. A few things stood out.
You can start a project from almost anything.
A blank canvas, a template, or an AI prompt loaded with your brand, brief, questionnaire and images. You can even point Studio 2 at a site you like, and it'll use the structure and copy as a starting point. There's also a skills library of reusable instructions for design or business logic, and you can write your own.
Everything's responsive by default.
Generate a site and you get desktop and mobile breakpoints that fit straight away. Wix has added a stopper at 700 pixels so layouts don't stretch awkwardly on wide phones. The Studio controls you already know, like breakpoints, responsive units and custom behaviours, are still there for fine-tuning.
Business features stop being black boxes.
This was the biggest change for us. Today, if you add Wix Stores or Bookings and want to change how they look or behave, you often have to rebuild them in code. In Studio 2, you bind any section to a store, a booking system, a CMS collection or your own logic. Then you design it however you like. Delete elements, swap them or restyle them, and the logic stays wired up underneath. You can mix two data sources in one section and nest repeaters inside repeaters, with no Wix Blocks needed.
You can ask for logic in plain English.
One request from the demo: “populate this section with my six top-selling products and refresh it every hour.” Aria built it, bound to the live store, with no developer.
Custom components are on the table.
Wix built a live car paint colour simulator from a prompt. The code landed in a VS Code editor inside the workspace, where you can see and edit it. A designer can ship something custom without a developer, and a developer keeps full control.
There was more, including on-canvas image editing without opening the media manager, and dragging reference screenshots onto the stage to copy a layout. We also saw site-wide button and text themes, typography that scales per breakpoint, and AI-generated custom CSS you can still read and edit.
How Studio 2 compares with Wix Harmony and AI site builders
Studio 2 is Wix's tool for agencies and developers. Wix Harmony is its AI-first editor for people building their own sites, and Wix told partners those users will stay on Harmony.
Wix launched Harmony in January 2026. Wix's own developer docs say it's built for people creating their own sites and doesn't support site code such as Velo. The same page says Wix is working on bringing Harmony's AI creation experience to Wix Studio. That matches what Wix showed partners for Studio 2.
We compared the two current editors in Wix Harmony vs Wix Studio.
For a while, the big story in web design has been “describe your site, and AI builds it”. Think of the Lovables, the Atlases and the headless vibe-coding tools. They're impressive. They're also hard to maintain, hand over or change after the fact. There's no editor and no safety rails, just prompt after prompt to fix one heading.
We've written about that gap in AI websites look great, but who are they actually built for? Studio 2 takes the speed of those tools and puts it on something you can run a business on. That means drag and drop, visual panels, and real hosting, security and CMS. Your site keeps the same dashboards and business features it already uses.
What Studio 2 means for our clients
Wix built Studio 2 for partners. Clients won't get access to it, because the Wix team's view is that most people would get lost in it.
Better tools don't decide what your site should say, or what turns a visitor into an enquiry. That still comes from people who do this for a living. For our clients, Studio 2 should mean faster turnarounds and fewer revision rounds, on the platform their site already runs on.
When is Wix Studio 2 coming out?
Nobody outside Wix knows. Wix hasn't published a release date, and Studio 2 doesn't appear on Wix's public product roadmap as of 11 October 2026.
At the roundtable, Wix said launch was “months, not years” away and wouldn't commit to anything tighter. The dates you'll find online are other partners' guesses, ranging from late summer to the end of 2026. Late summer has come and gone, so treat every date as a guess until Wix announces one.
Will my current Wix site need rebuilding for Studio 2?
No, not automatically. Wix told partners that Studio 1 will keep running alongside Studio 2, and that nothing moves on its own. Migration paths from the classic Editor and Harmony are planned. What that means depends on where your site is today.
On Wix Studio: your live site won't change on its own, and migration tools are planned for when moving makes sense. Keep building, keep custom code tidy and use native elements.
On the classic Wix Editor: a migration path to Studio 2 is planned. Today, Wix lets you create a Studio version of an Editor site as a branch. The live site stays up until you publish, and dashboard data stays connected. Code has to be moved over by hand. You need a Premium plan to start and a Studio plan to publish. If you're redesigning anyway, do it as a Studio branch now.
On Wix Harmony: Harmony stays Wix's builder for people creating their own sites, and a migration path is planned. A February 2026 Wix Studio forum announcement said moving a Harmony site to the current Studio wasn't possible yet. Harmony is fine for a simple site you run yourself. If you need custom code, start on Studio.
When Wix let Editor sites move to Studio, the dashboard data stayed connected. The design and any custom code were redone.
Going live is a job of its own. We cover it in how to redesign a Wix site without downtime.
Should you wait for Wix Studio 2 or build now?
Build now, in almost every case. There's no release date to plan around, and the parts of a site that take longest to get right sit underneath the editor.
Three reasons we tell clients not to wait:
There's no date. Wix said “months, not years” when it showed partners Studio 2, and more than three months later there's nothing firmer. A site that needs work today could sit untouched for months.
Your content and data sit below the editor. When Wix opened the Editor-to-Studio route, dashboard data stayed connected and only the design and code were redone. CMS collections, members, bookings and store data are often the slowest part of a build.
Studio 1 isn't going anywhere. Wix told partners the two versions will run side by side. Native elements, CMS-driven pages and small, documented code leave any future migration the least to untangle.
We built Aldenham Residential's site on Wix Studio. Three CMS collections run 30 development pages and 89 plot pages, and their team updates prices and availability themselves. That structure lives in the CMS, so it doesn't depend on which version of the editor draws the page.
Waiting makes sense in two cases:
The project can't start for months anyway. Plan the content and structure now, and choose the editor when you're ready to build.
You're building a simple site yourself. Wix Harmony is made for that, and Wix says people building their own sites will stay on it.
How to get your Wix site ready for Studio 2
The best preparation for Wix Studio 2 is a clean Wix Studio site. Each of these steps helps today, whether Studio 2 lands next month or next year.
Use native Wix Studio elements. Built-in sections, containers and components are Wix's own building blocks, so they're the most likely to carry over to a new editor. Avoid stacking embeds and workarounds to fake a layout.
Keep custom Velo code small and documented. Velo is being retired in favour of standard React. Comment what each function does and keep code in as few files as you can, so it's quicker to rebuild later.
Put repeating content in CMS collections. Team members, services, projects and listings belong in the CMS, so one template builds every page.
Get the SEO basics right now. Clear headings, page titles, meta descriptions and internal links carry across any editor change. Our Wix SEO service can check these for you.
Keep a list of every URL. Export your sitemap before any rebuild, so every old page can redirect to its new home.
On the classic Editor? Plan a Studio branch. If a redesign is on the cards, build it as a Studio version while the current site stays live.
What we're still not promising
A few caveats, because we'd rather under-promise. None of this is live yet. We saw Figma flows, and Wix is still gathering partner feedback.
Performance should improve with the new architecture, but Wix hasn't published real numbers, so neither will we.
The SEO and GEO side of Studio 2 is getting its own treatment, and it increasingly decides whether anyone finds your site. We'll cover it properly once it's clearer, as we did when Wix made structured data automatic.
We'll get our hands on Studio 2 early, as partners usually do. When we do, we'll tell you what it means for your site, without the press-release gloss.
If you're weighing up a rebuild and wondering whether to wait, book a quick consultation. We'll tell you straight whether your site should move now.

No. Harmony is Wix's AI-first editor for people building their own sites, and Wix says those users will stay on it. Studio 2 is for partner agencies and developers.
Will Velo code still work in Wix Studio 2?
Not in the long run. Wix told partners Velo is being retired in favour of standard React. Keep your Velo code small and documented now, and expect custom features to be rebuilt in React when you move.
Can I move my Wix Editor site to Wix Studio now?
Yes, as a redesign. Wix lets you create a Studio version of an Editor site while the original stays live. Your dashboard data stays connected, but the design is rebuilt and any code is moved over by hand.
Will my Wix site get faster with Studio 2?
The new architecture is expected to improve performance, but Wix hasn't released tested numbers yet. We'll share real results once they're available rather than repeat an unverified claim.
Is Wix replacing agencies with AI?
No. Studio 2 is built for partners, and Wix's own view is that it's too complex for most clients to use well. The AI takes on repetitive build work, while strategy, brand and conversion thinking still come from the agency.
