Wix's AI Visibility Overview: How to Get Your Business Cited in ChatGPT

Wix now shows you whether ChatGPT and Gemini mention your business.

It's called the AI Visibility Overview, and for most Wix sites the first look is a shock: you can rank on page one of Google and still be completely absent from the AI answers your customers now read first.

That gap is the whole story. And Wix just made it impossible to ignore.

What is the Wix AI Visibility Overview?

The Wix AI Visibility Overview is a built-in dashboard that tracks how often AI search engines — ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude — cite your website when people ask questions related to your business. Wix is the first major website platform to build this in natively, rather than leaving you to bolt on a third-party tool.

It works by running a set of real questions through the big AI models and checking whether your site shows up in the answer. You can add questions that matter to your business and remove ones that don't. So instead of guessing whether "best campervan converter in Hampshire" gets you mentioned, you can watch it.

That's the shift. For fifteen years the question was where do I rank? Now there's a second question sitting next to it: do I get quoted?

You can be number one on Google and invisible in ChatGPT. Those are two different races now, and most businesses are only running one of them.

Why AI visibility is suddenly a separate problem

Because ranking and being cited are no longer the same thing. A search engine sends someone a list of links. An AI model reads the web, decides what's true, and hands back a single answer — often without a link at all. If your site isn't part of what it trusts, you're not in the conversation. We wrote about this shift in why your Google ranking no longer buys you AI search visibility.

I've built and optimised Wix sites for over ten years, and this is the biggest change I've seen to how people actually find businesses. A customer used to type a query, scan ten blue links, and click. Now plenty of them type the query into ChatGPT, read the paragraph it gives back, and act on it. No click. No visit. No idea your site exists.

Google itself confirmed something useful in its 2026 guidance: you don't need special files, content chunking, or exotic schema to show up in AI answers. There's no secret handshake. What earns citations is clear, genuinely useful content written by people who know the subject — the same thing that's always won, just judged by a different reader.

AI doesn't reward tricks. It rewards clarity. The businesses that write plainly and answer the actual question are the ones getting quoted.

What the tool actually tells you — and what it doesn't

It tells you where you stand and where you're missing. It won't fix anything for you.

The AI Visibility Overview is a mirror, not a magic wand. It shows you which questions you're cited on, which you're absent from, and roughly how you compare. That's genuinely valuable — you can't improve a number you can't see. But the tool doesn't write your content, sharpen your answers, or build your authority. That part is still work.

So treat the dashboard as a scoreboard. The game is played on your pages.

How to get your Wix site cited in AI search

Answer the question directly, near the top, in plain language — then prove you know what you're talking about. Here's what that means in practice:

  • Lead with the answer. AI models that read your page in real time judge it on the opening. Put a clear, complete answer to the question in your first hundred words. Don't warm up. Don't set the scene.

  • Keep answers short and self-contained. Open each section with a direct reply of roughly forty words, then expand. AI lifts clean, standalone statements far more readily than a sentence that only makes sense after the two before it.

  • Back your claims. A specific figure, a named source, a real example — these are the things a model can quote with confidence. "We're trusted by local businesses" is noise. "We've built over forty Wix sites for Hampshire trades since 2015" is a fact something can cite.

  • Get mentioned elsewhere. AI trusts businesses the wider web talks about. A directory listing, a partner page, a genuine review, a local mention — third-party signals still carry weight.

  • Don't forget Bing. ChatGPT Search pulls from Bing's index, not Google's. Submit your sitemap in Bing Webmaster Tools. It's ten minutes and it's the difference between being findable and being invisible to a large slice of AI search.

Writing for AI search isn't a new skill. It's just honest, well-structured content — finally being rewarded for its own sake.

Where this sits with Wix Studio and Harmony

It's part of a bigger move: Wix is rebuilding itself around AI, from the editor up.

Wix Harmony arrived in early 2026 as an AI-first editor, and Wix Studio 2 is on the way, sharing the same underlying structure. The AI Visibility Overview is the same philosophy pointed outward — not just building sites with AI, but making sure AI can read and recommend them once they're live. For anyone building on Wix, that's a good sign.

My honest take: the tool is a strong prompt, not a finished answer. It'll tell a business owner, clearly and uncomfortably, that they're missing from the answers their customers read. What it won't do is write the content that fixes it. That's still a person's job.

The bottom line

Turn the AI Visibility Overview on. Look at the questions you're absent from. Then fix your pages so they answer those questions plainly, near the top, with facts you can stand behind. That's the whole method. It rewards exactly the kind of clear, useful writing good businesses should have been doing anyway.
