Project 200: how we rebuilt a London acupuncture clinic on Wix Studio

9 min read

Someone in West London has tried the GP, the physio and the osteopath.

It's 11pm, their shoulder still hurts, and they're searching for acupuncture.

What they see in the next ten seconds decides whether they book, or go back to Google.

Miller's Way Project is a classical acupuncture clinic in Shepherd's Bush. Treatment rooms upstairs. A dojo for classes downstairs. A hand-picked team of osteopaths, herbalists, massage therapists and bodyworkers under one roof. Over 150 Google reviews, averaging 4.9.

Their old website showed almost none of that.

This is how we rebuilt their acupuncture clinic website on Wix Studio. It's also a bit of a milestone for us. Miller's Way is our 200th completed project through the Wix Marketplace.

Miller's Way Project homepage built on Wix Studio, with the headline Treat the Whole You and Book Treatment and Book a Class buttons

The new Miller's Way homepage. One line, two buttons, and the space itself doing the talking.

What Miller's Way came to us for

The brief from the discovery call was refreshingly clear.

They wanted:

  • Acupuncture front and centre. It's the heart of the clinic and the main source of revenue.

  • A booking journey that didn't send people round in circles.

  • The calm of the real space to come through on screen. Shepherd's Bush is busy. The clinic isn't.

  • Less writing. Much less. Lead with structure and they'd edit the words.

  • Dojo hire as a proper page, with 2027 dates people could request themselves.

All reasonable. The interesting part was what sat underneath.

The real problem underneath

The old site had been added to by a lot of well-meaning people over a lot of years.

The structure had sprawled. We pulled 131 URLs from the sitemap for a business that really needs about a dozen pages. There were even two separate systems for practitioner profiles, static pages and a CMS collection, competing with each other for the same names in Google.

Acupuncture was buried. The service that pays the rent wasn't clearly reachable from the main menu.

Booking was split. Classes lived in MindBody, acupuncture lived in Wix, and outside practitioners were just links to other websites. From the visitor's side, it felt like three different businesses.

The proof was hidden. More than 150 five-star reviews, and no page to show them on.

Miller's Way didn't have a design problem. It had a structure problem that happened to look like a design problem.

Strategy before pixels

Before anyone opened the Studio editor, we read the client's own marketing strategy. It's a good one, and it more or less handed us the sitemap.

Miller's Way works on three layers. Classes downstairs build your capacity. Treatment upstairs resolves problems, with practitioners who actually talk to each other. Education, over time, helps you take part in your own health. Most clinics do one of those. Miller's Way does all three and joins them up.

So the site does the same. Treatments, Classes & Workshops and Learning each get their own lane, and one Book Treatment button follows you everywhere.

Then there's the audience. Health-literate adults, often people who've been passed from specialist to specialist. They don't need persuading that acupuncture exists. They need to trust the people doing it. That's why the founders and the reviews sit high on every key page, and the sales talk sits nowhere.

The copy got the same treatment. Short, clear and careful. Chloe, one of the co-founders, pushed back on anything that sounded like a medical promise. A "Hormonal health" tab became "Metabolic health" because the clinic won't claim to balance anyone's hormones.

On a health website, the claims you leave out do as much work as the ones you keep in.

That isn't just good manners. Google holds health content to a higher standard. It calls these "Your Money or Your Life" topics and looks hard at experience, expertise and trust. Real practitioners, real reviews and careful claims aren't a nice extra here. They are the SEO strategy.

Making things happen with Wix Studio

This is where ten-plus years of Wix work earns its keep. Almost everything on this site is a standard Wix app or the Wix CMS, set up properly. Very little is custom code. That's deliberate. It means Miller's Way can run the site without ringing us. It's how we approach every Wix Studio build.

Wix Bookings, set up the way a clinic actually runs

We moved 28 services and 17 practitioners into Wix Bookings on the new site. Each founder card on the acupuncture page carries that practitioner's own initial appointment, follow-up and five-session pack. The price and the booking button sit right next to the person you're choosing.

One page to book any treatment

This was the biggest item from the client's first round of feedback. It's also the most useful page on the site.

Every practitioner gets one row. The founders expand to show their Wix Bookings services and prices. Partners who manage their own diaries get a button straight to their own booking system. Visitors never have to work out which system is which. They just pick a person.

One booking page for the whole building. Wix Bookings for the clinic's own services, clean hand-offs for everyone else.

A CMS that does the practitioner admin

The client was clear: no individual page per practitioner. Good call. Twenty thin profile pages would have split their authority in Google and given the team twenty more things to keep up to date.

Instead, every practitioner lives in one Wix CMS collection, sorted into tiers: founders, referred partners, resident practitioners and specialist clinics. The cards build themselves from that data. New therapist joins? Add a row, and they appear in the right section with the right booking link.

We've written before about why your website shouldn't need a developer every time you want to publish. This is what that looks like in practice.

Referred partners, pulled straight from the Team collection. Every practitioner is vetted by Miller's Way, and the page says so up front.

Dojo hire with a gatekeeper

The dojo is fully booked at weekends for 2026, and the owners want to vet every hire. So the Dojo Hire service in Wix Bookings runs on request to book. Visitors pick a date and a time and send a request. Nothing is confirmed until Miller's Way approves it.

No custom form. No email ping-pong. The calendar is the single source of truth.

Dojo hire runs through Wix Bookings with approval switched on. Requests come in, the owners decide.

Reviews that answer the visitor's real question

A wall of five-star reviews is nice. A review from someone with your exact problem is what gets you to book.

We brought the Google reviews into a CMS collection and tagged every one by theme. 35 tags in all, from Back Pain and Injury Recovery to Pregnancy Support and Studio Hire. Someone with a stiff neck or a frozen shoulder can find the stories that match theirs in one click.

FAQs that do double duty

The old site's FAQs were good, just badly housed. We moved them into the Wix FAQ app across four categories, with the formatting and links intact. Visitors get a searchable page. Search engines get FAQ structured data, without anyone writing a line of code.

Wix Studio is rarely the limit. Knowing what to build, what to configure and what to leave alone is the job.

The migration nobody sees

Here's the part that never makes it into a portfolio.

Miller's Way had years of data sitting in the old site. Customers, members, class packs, blog posts and Google rankings. A redesign that loses any of that isn't a redesign. It's a restart.

So we built the new site alongside the old one and kept the business trading the whole time. We've written up the method in how to redesign a Wix site without downtime.

On this project, that meant:

  • Mapping all 131 old URLs to their new homes, so links and rankings follow the content. All eight blog posts kept their exact addresses.

  • Keeping old booking page addresses working wherever the service still exists, so saved links still land in the right place.

  • Importing 2,500+ contacts and reconciling 118 contact labels. Wix's CSV import splits any label with a comma in it, and drops labels on duplicate emails. We found both and fixed them.

  • Recreating 650+ member accounts, so regulars reset a password instead of signing up from scratch.

  • Carrying the active pricing plans across, from acupuncture packs to class passes.

Most of that heavy lifting ran through the Wix APIs and Wix's MCP tools rather than thousands of clicks. It's faster, and every step can be checked.

Nobody books a treatment because your migration went well. Plenty of people stop booking when it goes badly.

SEO built for a health clinic

Every main page launched with its own title, meta description and structured data. That's standard for our Wix SEO work, but a health business needs a little more care.

Here's what went in:

  • MedicalBusiness and LocalBusiness markup on the homepage, with the clinic's full name, address and contact details.

  • MedicalWebPage markup on the acupuncture page, tied back to the business.

  • FAQ markup from the FAQ app, and collection markup on Other Treatments.

  • Shepherd's Bush and West London built into titles and headings, because that's where the searches happen.

Two things worth knowing if you're doing this on your own Wix site.

We didn't add star-rating markup to the reviews page. Google won't show stars for reviews a business marks up about itself, so we didn't pretend.

Template page addresses can get stuck. Pages that came from a Studio template kept placeholder URLs like /home-2, and some of them refuse to change from the SEO dashboard. The fix is in the page settings inside the Studio editor. Every page now has a clean, real address, like /acupuncture and /other-treatments.

Launch day

The site went live on 23 September 2026 at 3pm, on a Zoom call with the Miller's Way team. Domain connected, indexing switched on, last SEO steps finished together.

Before the afternoon was out, this landed:

"Matt is pragmatic, detail-oriented, an excellent listener and highly efficient. We hired VISion Marketing to redesign our website, and we had more than a few bespoke requirements. Matt was clear about what was and wasn't possible within the remit of Wix, although he managed to make almost everything possible. We would wholeheartedly recommend Matt's expertise."

MiWay Project, five-star review on Google and the Wix Marketplace

"Clear about what was and wasn't possible" is the line we're proudest of. Saying no to the right things is how everything else gets done properly.

What we learned

Clinics and studios with lots of practitioners all fall into the same trap. Every new therapist, class or offer gets its own page, and before long the website mirrors the org chart instead of the patient's question.

The fix is rarely more pages. It's one clear front door, one way to book, and proof in the places people hesitate.

That applies to website design for an acupuncture clinic, an osteopathy practice, a yoga studio or a multi-therapy wellness centre alike.

Your clinic's website shouldn't mirror your org chart. It should answer your patient's question.

200 projects in

Miller's Way takes us to 200 completed projects on the Wix Marketplace, with a 5.0 rating across 116 reviews and Wix's Expert Web Designer and Expert Developer badges.

We don't take that for granted. Every one of those reviews is a real business that trusted a small Hampshire agency with something that matters to them. Thank you. And thank you to Boo, Chloe, James, Steve and the whole Miller's Way team for being brilliant to work with.

If you run a clinic, studio or practice and your website's working against you, drop us a line. We'd love to make you number 201.

Frequently asked questions

Is Wix Studio a good platform for an acupuncture or wellness clinic website?

For most clinics, yes. Wix Studio covers design, bookings, pricing plans, member accounts, a CMS and SEO settings in one place, so there's no plugin stack to maintain. Miller's Way runs 28 bookable services, 17 practitioners, a tagged review library and studio hire on standard Wix apps, with very little custom code.

It can. Each practitioner is set up as staff with their own services, prices and availability. For practitioners who manage their own diaries elsewhere, we link straight to their booking system from the same page, so visitors still have one place to start.

It doesn't have to. Map every old URL to its new home with 301 redirects, keep blog and booking addresses where you can, and carry your page titles and structured data across. Rankings usually drop when redirects are skipped, not because the design changed.

Contacts can be imported by CSV, but check the result. Wix's import splits labels that contain commas and drops labels on duplicate emails. Member logins don't carry over between sites on their own, so we recreate the accounts and members simply reset their password.

Miller's Way took about four months from discovery call to launch, including client feedback rounds and the summer holidays. A smaller practice with fewer services and less data to move can be much quicker.

It's Wix's own directory of approved agencies and freelancers. Businesses post a project, choose a partner, and leave a review once the work is done, so every completed project and review on a partner's profile is tied to real work.
